Graduation time capsule: letters from the class, opened at the reunion

Graduation is the last day everyone is in one place. Ask each person to write what they think will happen next, seal it, and open it together at the reunion in five or ten years.

How it works

  1. 01

    One person starts it

A teacher, class rep or friend creates the capsule and sets the reunion date.

  2. 02

Share the link in the group chat

Everyone writes from their phone. Nobody can read anyone else's letter.

  3. 03

    Open it at the reunion

Each classmate who's listed gets an email that morning. Read the letters together.

What to write to your class

Pick two or three. A few honest lines beat a long letter nobody finishes.

  • Where will you be living in ten years? Be specific.
  • Who in the class will be famous, and for what?
  • The moment from this year you'll still remember.
  • Something you never said to someone in this class.
  • What you're scared of right now.
  • A prediction about the world in ten years.
  • The song that sums up this year.

Example

Prediction: Sam owns a restaurant, Priya is a judge, and I still haven't learned to cook. Whoever reads this first, call me.

Questions

Who receives the capsule?
Anyone you list, each with up to three email addresses. Classmates can keep their addresses up to date with the organizer.
Can a teacher run it for the class?
Yes. The organizer sees who has written, not what, and can't read the letters before the day.
What does it cost?
$15 once for the whole class, or $29 with videos. A capsule that opens within a year is free.
