How it works

  1. 01

    Write your letter

As long or short as you like. Add photos or a voice note if you want to hear yourself.

  2. 02

    Choose the day

Next birthday, New Year's Day, or 5, 10 or 25 years from now.

  3. 03

    Forget about it

It arrives by email on that morning. Until then, not even you can read it.

Questions to answer for your future self

Pick two or three. A few honest lines beat a long letter nobody finishes.

  • What does an ordinary day look like right now?
  • What are you worried about that you hope won't matter later?
  • Who are the people you talk to most?
  • What are you proud of this year?
  • What do you want to have stopped doing by the time you read this?
  • What do you think you'll be doing for work?
  • One question you want future you to answer honestly.

Example

You're reading this on the train, probably. I hope you finally called Dad more than once a month. If you didn't, call him today.

— Me, at 29

Questions

Is it free?
Yes. A text letter from one writer is free up to 25 years out, and anything that opens within a year is free. Photos further out are $6 once, and you can write up to 100 years ahead.
What if I change my email address?
Add up to three addresses, and update them any time from your private link.
Can I read it before the day?
No. That's the point. You can download what you wrote as a backup, but the capsule stays sealed.
